I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD — the only true, living, eternal, sovereign LORD over all things. My God is not like the stupid, sightless, voiceless, idols of men. They have ears but they cannot hear. They have hands but they cannot feel. They have feet but they cannot walk. Those who make them, will become like them. “But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.” Psalm 115:3
And one of the things that pleases Him is to provide aid and comfort to His people.
“Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,”
Let Israel now say,
2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their anger was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have engulfed us,
The stream would have swept over our soul;
5 Then the raging waters would have swept over our soul.” Psalm 124:1-5
But their blessed Lord took action on their behalf. He did not allow their enemies to tear them to pieces.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
They were delivered by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
When I am in difficulty, I call upon the name of my God. He is the only true, living, eternal, sovereign LORD over all things. He is my loving Father who has adopted me into His family. And He is the Almighty Creator who made heaven and earth.
However big my trouble looks or feels, it is nothing like making the heaven and the earth out of nothing. He can act on my behalf — He has the power. And He will act on my behalf — because He is my loving Father.
