Why Are You Called A Christian?

Question:  But why are you called a Christian? (a)

Answer:

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Because I am a member of Christ by faith, (b)

and thus am partaker of His anointing; (c)

that so I may confess His name, (d)

and present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to Him: (e)

and also that with a free and good conscience I may fight against sin and Satan in this life (f)

and afterwards I reign with Him eternally, over all creatures. (g)

But why are you called a Christian? (a)

25 And he left for Tarsus to look for Saul; 26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.  Acts 11:25, 26

Because I am a member of Christ by faith, (b)

14 Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!   1 Corinthians 6:14, 15

and thus am partaker of His anointing; (c)

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. 27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.  1 John 2:26, 27

15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; 16 but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel:

17 And it shall be in the last days,’ God says,
That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
And your young men shall see visions,

And your old men shall dream dreams;
18 Even on My bondslaves, both men and women,
will in those days pour forth of My Spirit
And they shall prophesy.  Acts 2:15-18

that so I may confess His name, (d)

32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.  Matthew 10:32, 33

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.  Romans 10:8-10

36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation,the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”  Mark 8:36-38

and present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to Him: (e)

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.  Romans 12:1

And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holypriesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  1 Peter 2:4, 5

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nationa people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.  1Peter 2:9, 10

When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before theLamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.And they *sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

10 “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”  Revelation 5:8-10

To Him wholoves us and released us from our sins by His blood— and He has made us to be a kingdom,priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.  Revelation 1:5, 6

and also that with a free and good conscience I may fight against sin and Satan in this life (f)

11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.  1 Peter 2:11

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.  Romans 6:12, 13

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.   Galatians 5:16, 17

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  Ephesians 6:11

18 This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, 19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.  1 Timothy 1:18, 19

and afterwards I reign with Him eternally, over all creatures. (g)

11 It is a trustworthy statement:

For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.  2 Timothy 2:11-13

34 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  Matthew 25:34
